What do you get when you add nature-inspired art, messy science, garden creations, outdoor play, and a sprinkle of magical imagination?
Wild Wonders!
In our popular after school program, we embrace the essence of childhood and the playfulness of the season! Creating crafts and cuisine from the garden, making messes in the mud kitchen, playing games, telling stories, nature journaling, and exploring arts and crafts are just some of the choices children will enjoy while savoring the magic of the season.

Join us for an all-outdoor adventure where winter’s magic fuels creativity and play! Held on the first Wednesday of each month from December through April, children will gather from 2:15 to 4:15 pm to explore the enchantment of the season through nature-based crafts and playful engagement with the season.
Each session begins with a hands-on activity, some of which will be led by guest teachers with special expertise in music, art, crafts, wilderness skills, or storytelling. The remainder of the afternoon will be devoted to unstructured play, winter games, and nature-focused STEAM activities.
What's new in the Winter session of Wild Wonders
In this "Craft-&-Play" edition of Wild Wonders, we embrace winter’s slower rhythm by deepening focus and encouraging reflection. Children are encouraged to engage in the hands-on activities presented, and to reflect on how arts, crafts, and nature-based skills shape their relationships with community and the natural world.

Dig in, grow, taste, and create!
In this hands-on program, Syre Elementary students will dive into the school garden through gardening and cooking adventures. Each week, children will plant, tend, and harvest seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs, then prepare simple, delicious recipes with their harvest.
Along the way, students will learn where food comes from, connect with nature, and discover the joy of eating what they’ve grown. From seed to snack, this program nurtures curiosity, healthy habits, and a lifelong love of fresh, garden-grown food.
